Driving in Cyprus: What Tourists Need to Know

Driving in Cyprus: What Tourists Need to Know

Cyprus drives on the left, like the UK. If you land at Larnaca Airport and pick up a Toyota Auris or Yaris from APP TEC CAR RENTALS LTD, take a minute to adjust mirrors and indicators before joining the B4.

Speed limits

  • Towns and villages: 50 km/h
  • Open roads: 80 km/h
  • Motorways (A1, A3, A6): 100 km/h unless signed

Seat belts are mandatory. Using a phone without hands-free is illegal. Police do enforce speed cameras on the Larnaca–Limassol motorway.

Mountain roads

Routes to Troodos and Omodos are scenic but narrow. Allow extra time, use lower gears on descents, and avoid night driving if you are not confident. An automatic compact such as the Toyota Auris handles these roads well.
